That amazing concept

It is extraordinary that so much of modern life depends on it but so little of formal education is done on it.

The Wikipedia definition

Logic is the systematic study of the forms of inference, the relations that lead to the acceptance of one proposition, the conclusion, on the basis of a set of other propositions, the premises.

More broadly, logic is the analysis and appraisal of arguments.

The premises may or may not support the conclusion; when they do not, the relation is characterized as a fallacy.

In ordinary discourse, inferences may be signified by words such as therefore, thus, hence, ergo, and so on.

Some observations

Humans have been interested in it since the beginning of civilization. They have advanced it to such an art form that it is so difficult to get your head around all the nuances and complications.

There is no universal agreement as to the exact definition and boundaries of logic. So there is logic in me not agreeing to your logic because my logic is not same as yours.

And there are types of logic; informal, formal, syllogistic logic, symbolic, propositional, predicate, mathematical, universal.. I gave up at this point. Yeah, I didn’t know and I didn’t care. And who knows whether it matters.

This is just from part of the Wikipedia page. It is astonishing that how much is condensed into one wiki entry. Also, that how few people care about it.

All this is part of my education. If you like it, you are welcome.
